The District of Columbia is vulnerable to disasters of various types – flooding, tornados, ice & snowstorms, power outages and terrorist attacks. In order to assure that you and your family are as prepared as possible for these possible events, the Homeland Security Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) has a training session in your neighborhood. Each meeting includes a wealth of information from district agencies, free items to be used in a disaster and the chance to participate in a simulation of a possible event, in order to learn what steps you and your family can take to prepare for a disaster, discuss and plan with your neighbors and community leaders to get ready and find out about the best routes to use if an evacuation is necessary.
The last FREE session in this phase of the project will be held on Saturday, May 30th at 10:00 a.m. at the West End Public Library (1101 24th Street, NW).
These sessions are open to all local residents, neighborhood leaders and representatives of community and civic organizations. Refreshments and certificate of completion will be provided.
Event details can be found in the attached documents or online at www.dccommunitypreparedness.org and in the attached pamphlet.
You can RSVP for the event online at www.dccommunitypreparedness.org or by calling (202) 338-7158 x 212.
