My name is Susan Dunn. I've lived in Dupont for eleven years, and I've been on the DCCA Board for five of those years. I put homelessness on the DCCA agenda. I manage Charitable Giving; I created and run the Community Mini-Walk for Charlie's Place; I've run the House Tour Volunteer Party; I help with Membership.
I strongly support extending and expanding the work begun last year by Joel Lawson to make DCCA an open and inclusive association, working in the interest of all residents, collaborating with other organizations, dealing in a positive spirit with local businesses, and generally replacing walls with bridges. I believe the present economic downturn presents us with an opportunity to recognize our mutual vulnerability and build a better model of neighborhood cooperation.
I urge you to consider that the DCCA Board is one managing unit; a group that must work together. The obligation of collegiality and the acceptance of majority decisions are requirements of every member of every board. Otherwise the board cannot function effectively--probably it can't function at all. I urge you to vote for the entire Nominating Committee team. Then let's get back to work.
