Assault Victim Dies - Possible Hate Crime

I brought up the problem of a surge in potential gay bashings/hate crimes two months ago. It seems now that a victim from an attack - which has not been ruled a hate/bias crime but also has not been ruled out from being a hate/bias crime - 10 days ago has died. The police are now investigating the case as a homicide.

My thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim, and I call on our police force and our Mayor to take action to address the growing threat of hate crimes against ALL minorities in Washington. These types of crimes cannot be tolerated. They are not like normal robberies or burglaries or murders. Hate crimes mean you are singled out because of something you cannot change about yourself.

I will post information here about any memorial service and/or community vigil as I learn of it.
